Since the introduction of desktop printers and scanners in the 80s, optically variable security elements on banknotes have become an undisputed security standard. They were pioneered by OVD Kinegram with the development of the KINEGRAM®, which was first used for securing banknotes by the Austrian State Printing Works (Oesterreichische Banknoten- und Sicherheitsdruck GmbH) in 1988 to secure the Austrian currency – the Schilling. Following this pioneering application many state printers and state or commercial banknote printers place their trust in the KINEGRAM® technology.
Today KURZ offers the KINEGRAM® security element in three variants for banknote applications.
